Walmart to Open Concept Store in Arizona
March 29, 2013

Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart Stores Inc. will open a new small-concept store on the Arizona State University Tempe campus, according to the Phoenix Business Journal. The small-format store, located on Apache Boulevard, is the company’s second “Walmart on Campus” store. Spanning only 5,093 sq. ft., it is smaller than Walmart Neighborhood Market stores, which are usually 40,000 sq. ft. The retail chain opened a similar store at the University of Arkansas-Fayetteville campus in 2011. Slated to open in May, the ASU store will include a pharmacy, check-cashing and bill-pay services, convenience foods and other merchandise geared toward the college community.
