Seattle-based Starbucks Corp. continues to work towards establishing China as its second-largest market, with the opening of its 100th store in Beijing. The new store in Beijing, located in the Solana International Business District, features the company’s Art Nouveau design concept, with wall murals of coffee trees, bags of coffee cherries and roasted Arabica beans. Starbucks also recently launched Starbucks China University, a talent development program designed to develop “Coffee Masters.” Since opening its first store in China in 1999, Starbucks has opened 100 stores in Beijing and more than 700 throughout China. The company aims to operate 1,500 stores across 70 cities in the country by 2015.
