Polaroid to Launch New Fotobar Concept
January 03, 2013
Minnetonka, Minn.-based Polaroid Corp. plans to launch a new experiential concept called Polaroid Fotobar. The new retail stores will allow consumers to quickly and easily take their digital images from their digital devices and turn them into museum-quality art, according to the company. A patent-pending proprietary technology will allow in-store customers to select their favorite pictures on their camera phones and wirelessly transmit them to one of the store’s bar-top workstations. Once the images are uploaded, customers will be able to choose from a wide variety of materials, substrates and framing options. Polaroid plans to open at least 10 Fotobar locations in 2013, the first of which will be a 2,000-sq.-ft. store in Delray Beach, Fla. Slated to open in February, the Florida store will serve as a model for all future locations. Other planned locations include New York, Las Vegas and Boston.
