Most Exciting Project of 2011: "When planning the redevelopment of Del Mar Highlands Town Center, the project team turned to its customers for their invaluable feedback. Working closely with the community, we created a renovation plan that reimagines and upgrades the center, providing family-oriented amenities, intimate gathering spaces and improved pedestrian access. To achieve project goals, storefront façade renovations, enhanced public spaces, updated signage, lighting and landscaping were incorporated to create a fresh and reimagined “town center.” All done in a contemporary aesthetic, the site’s central feature is an existing concrete seating area that was redesigned to accommodate more intimate public seating areas for live performances, as well as a state-of-the-art pop jet fountain. The site also features covered escalators, a new staircase, elevator, clock tower, and 5,000 sq. ft. of additional shops positioned on the lower level. "
