CVS Acquires Brazilian Drugstore Chain

Woonsocket, R.I.-based CVS Caremark Corp. has acquired Sao Paulo-based Drogaria Onofre. Drogaria Onofre is Brazil’s eighth-largest drugstore chain, operating 44 stores in the country. The purchase marks the first international acquisition for CVS, which operates more than 7,4000 U.S. drugstores. The Drogaria Onofre stores will continue to be managed locally by two brothers who currently run the chain.
