Best Buy to Close 15 Canada Stores

Burnaby, B.C., Canada-based Best Buy Canada Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Best Buy Co. Inc., plans to close 15 stores. The store closures, which will include eight Future Shop and seven Best Buy Big Box locations, are the first phase of a long-term transformational strategy to optimize the company’s retail footprint across the country. Over the next 36 months, the company will move into the second phase of the “Renew Blue” strategy, opening new Future Shop small-concept Web stores and new Best Buy Mobile locations across Canada. Currently, the retailer operates more than 120 Best Buy and Best Buy Mobile stores, and 140 Future Shop stores across the country.
