Anthropologie Plans Earth Day Displays, Events
April 06, 2009
Philadelphia-based Anthropologie is placing special importance on the survival of the honey bees and sustainable agriculture in honor of Earth Day, held April 22, with window displays and events held in its stores. All of Anthropologie's stores will display window installations that reflect upon bees' role in our world. Iconography like hives and honeycombs will be represented with imagination and unexpected materials. The retailer will debut the "Bee Tees," two styles of T-shirts created by Edun that will generate awareness of the disappearance of honey bees and the organizations dedicated to saving them. The 100 percent organic cotton T-shirts will be available at select Anthropologie locations. The company also will host appearances by experts in sustainable agriculture and organic living in stores located in Palo Alto, Calif.; Los Angeles; Berkeley, Calif.; Coral Gables, Fla.; Tampa, Fla.; West Palm Beach, Fla.; and Fresno, Calif., among others. Anthropologie's soon-to-debut Durham, N.C., location will host a benefit for the South Eastern Efforts Developing Sustainable Spaces. This non-profit organization teaches people to care for the planet through garden-based programs.
