Williams-Sonoma CEO to Retire
January 28, 2010
Williams-Sonoma Inc. announced that its Chairman and CEO W. Howard Lester will retire on May 26, 2010, during the annual company shareholders' meeting. He will also retire as a member of the board, and will have the title of chairman emeritus. Lester will provide consulting and advisory services in order to assist with the transition to a new CEO. The board intends to appoint Laura J. Alber as the company’s CEO. She has served as the company’s president since July 2006, and served as president, Pottery Barn Brands, from 2002-2006.
