eBay Unveils First Pop-Up Store in Manhattan
November 23, 2009
eBay opened its first pop-up store, called "eBay @ 57th St.," in Midtown Manhattan on Nov. 20, according to Hometextilestoday.com. The 5,500-sq.-ft. temporary store is located at 57th Street and Fifth Avenue, and features samples of 400 products, along with touchscreen kiosks (and eBay’s iPhone app) where shoppers can purchase them online from eBay sellers. The store will also offer personal shoppers and trend experts in-store. The pop-up shop, which will be open through Nov. 29, will award popular holiday gift items to the first 100 shoppers on Black Friday. “eBay offers great deals and incredible selection on every holiday gift imaginable,” said Lorrie Norrington, president of eBay Marketplaces. “Our pop-up experience gives shoppers a unique way to see some of the best of what eBay sellers offer this holiday.” The store also will feature items from designers and celebrities that will be sold to benefit charity. All online purchases made at the pop-up store will be matched dollar-for-dollar by eBay, up to $200,000.
