Consumers Rank Favorite 50 Online Retailers
October 01, 2008
STORES magazine and BIGresearch have compiled the annual Favorite 50 list, which ranks customers' favorite online retail companies. For the second year in a row, Amazon.com ranked No. 1 as consumers' favorite. Other popular pure-play companies (those with Web sites but not stores or catalogs) on the list include eBay.com, which came in second, Google.com (No. 7) and Overstock.com (No. 8). In addition to pure-play retailers, a handful of multichannel retailers made the list. Walmart.com scored the No. 3 spot, while Target.com made the list at No. 6. BestBuy.com made the list at No. 4, followed by JCPenney.com at No. 5. Kohls.com came in ninth place, while Sears.com secured the No. 10 spot. Newcomers to the Favorite 50 this year include BananaRepublic.com (No. 41), BedBathandBeyond.com (No. 42) and BarnesandNoble.com (No. 50).

DDI visited the new JCPenney department store at Manhattan Mall in New York and spoke with store manager Joe Cardamone. Below is video of that conversation paired with a walk-through tour of the new store. For more on the JCPenney store, look out for DDI's November/December issue mailing out at the end of November.
