Wal-Mart Expands Throughout Canada

Mississauga, Canada-based Wal-Mart Canada Corp. announced plans to expand its presence throughout Canada, according to the Montreal Gazette. The company will open 25 to 27 stores by early 2009, creating approximately 6,000 new jobs. More than half of the new stores will be designed in the supercenter format, while the remaining locations will undergo renovations. In addition, Wal-Mart plans to close two locations, relocating and reopening the stores as supercenters. Currently, Wal-Mart Canada has built 255 stores and expanded 28 locations.
