POPAI Names New President
December 30, 2009
Point of Purchase Advertising International (POPAI) has named Richard Winter, a marketing at-retail industry veteran with more than 20 years experience working with the world's leading retailers and brands globally, as president of the Alexandria, Va.-based trade association. Winter has served as interim president of POPAI since July 2009, and his appointment comes after an exhaustive search that evaluated candidates from across the nation and from a variety of association, marketing and other disciplines. Prior to his post as interim POPAI president, Winter most recently served as president of Marmon Retail Services LLC, a supplier of equipment and services to retail stores and quick-service restaurants worldwide with operations in North America, Europe and Asia. He also served on POPAI's Board of Directors from 1993 to 2001, participated in numerous committees and served as Chairman of the Board in 1998-1999.
"This is an exciting time for POPAI and for our industry as a whole as the advertising paradigm continues to evolve and involve marketing at-retail on a more strategic level than ever in the history of advertising," Winter said. "Despite the reality of economic challenges across the world, this is a time of great opportunity for all of POPAI's membership segments, as I've learned first-hand during the past six months. I'm looking forward to working with POPAI's membership to provide them with the unique benefits that can be offered by a non-profit, global organization that serves the entire industry and represents their interests as part of our mission."
