Sears to Open Delivery Center in Gouldsboro, Pa.

Hoffman Estates, Ill.-based Sears Holding Corp. announced plans to open a new 1-million-sq.-ft. delivery center in Gouldsboro, Pa. The new facility will distribute home appliances, tractors, televisions and other large-ticket items to warehouses at more than 300 Sears and Kmart stores throughout Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont and Virginia. According to the company, the center will employ 167 workers. "This facility will allow Sears to expand our appliance distribution capabilities and moves us closer to our goal of becoming more effective and efficient," said Jim Mixon, senior vice president, supply chain and logistics for Sears Holdings. Sears operates approximately 3,800 stores in the United States and Canada.
