Guess Reopens SoHo Flagship
July 07, 2009
Los Angeles-based clothing retailer Guess Inc. has reopened its flagship store in New York’s SoHo district, according to WWD.com. The company has revamped the unit, increasing the overall square footage to 8,700 sq. ft. Guess has also combined the building’s original design elements with new details to create a unique look. The original brick has been gold-washed, and a new black tin ceiling has been constructed. Carlos Alberini, president and CEO of Guess, said the 12-year-old store was due for a redesign. “It’s much easier to really look at the overall merchandising that is being offered when it’s being done in one particular area, rather than going through the whole selling floor,” Alberini said. The company operates 429 retail stores in the United States and Canada, with plans to open 81 more branches. The SoHo location will be the company’s design blueprint for the new stores.
