Charming Shoppes Appoints President of Outlets

Bensalem, Pa.-based Charming Shoppes Inc. recently announced that MaryEllen MacDowell has been appointed president of Charming Outlets. She succeeds Jeffrey Elliott, who has left the company to pursue another career opportunity. MacDowell will have leadership responsibility for the company's Lane Bryant Outlet and Petite Sophisticate Outlet retail chains. She has served as senior vice president and general merchandise manager of apparel and accessories at the company's Lane Bryant brand since 2007. Charming Shoppes operates 2,344 retail stores in 48 states under the names Lane Bryant, Fashion Bug, Fashion Bug Plus, Catherines Plus Sizes, Lane Bryant Outlet and Petite Sophisticate Outlet names.
