Regis Corp. Acquires 129 Hair Cuttery Stores
March 14, 2008
The Ratner Cos. has sold 129, or 15 percent, of its Hair Cuttery stores to Minneapolis-based salon company Regis Corp. The sale leaves The Ratner Cos. with 800 Hair Cuttery salons in the Washington area, Philadelphia and Chicago as well as in Florida, Delaware and New England. Regis, which operates Hair Club for Men and Women as well as MasterCuts, Cost Cutters and Supercuts among others, also announced that its Trade Secret chain is undergoing an extreme makeover. In the next few years, all of the estimated 635 stores will be transformed into European-style luxury boutiques operating under the name PureBeauty. The company sees the change as a way to expand its reach beyond hair care into cosmetics, skin care and bath products.
