Ukrop's Stores to Be Rebranded as Martin's Food Markets
February 10, 2010
Dutch supermarket operator Royal Ahold announced that Giant-Carlisle, a division of Ahold USA, has successfully completed the acquisition of 25 stores from Ukrop's Super Markets Inc. Ahold plans to convert the 25 Ukrop's stores in the Richmond and Williamsburg, Va., areas to the Martin's Food Markets banner, according to Drugstorenews.com. The planned changes are expected to happen this spring, and the rebranded stores will continue to provide kitchen and bakery products from the Ukrop family. The converted stores will start selling beer and wine, and will operate seven days a week, unlike Ukrop's, which did not sell alcohol and was closed on Sundays.
