Rolling Stone Magazine to Open Restaurant, Bar Concept
December 04, 2009
Lucky Rug Group and Rolling Stone Founder/Publisher Jann S. Wenner have unveiled plans for a hospitality venue centered around the iconic music magazine. The 10,000-sq.-ft. multi-level concept--encompassing a restaurant, bar, lounge and upscale private event space--will open in summer 2010 at Los Angeles’s Hollywood and Highland Center. Designed by Brodin Design, the space will reflect the magazine’s “progressive timelessness” through exposed black brick, tufted leather, vaulted ceilings and an antique iron staircase. "For those who love music and pop culture, the words 'Rolling Stone' continue to mean so much to so many people around the world, especially in the U.S.," said Lucky Rug Group principal Niall Donnelly in a statement. "We are both excited and determined to bring the spirit of the magazine to life--the edginess, the coolness, the classiness and the timelessness--in making this venue a place to see and be seen in." --Holly O'Dell, Nielsen Business Media

DDI visited the new JCPenney department store at Manhattan Mall in New York and spoke with store manager Joe Cardamone. Below is video of that conversation paired with a walk-through tour of the new store. For more on the JCPenney store, look out for DDI's November/December issue mailing out at the end of November.
