Jewel-Osco to Open Urban Fresh Format in Chicago
July 17, 2008
Jewel-Osco, a chain owned by Eden Prairie, Minn.-based Supervalu Inc., plans to open a 16,000-sq.-ft. concept store called Urban Fresh by Jewel in Chicago this fall, according to Progressivegrocer.com. Located in Chicago's Lincoln Park neighborhood, the Urban Fresh market is as a specialty grocery store designed for busy professionals, offering up ready-to-go-meals, produce and organic items, and fresh meats and seafood. "The smaller-format store is an exciting complement to our larger, more traditional grocery stores," said Keith Nielsen, president of Jewel-Osco. "We hope to learn as much as possible from the effort, paying close attention to customer feedback, so we can deliver the best experience for our shoppers."
