Best Buy Canada to Launch Standalone Mobile Stores
June 03, 2008
Best Buy Canada Ltd., a wholly owned subsidiary of Richfield, Minn.-based Best Buy Co. Inc., will be launching new standalone Best Buy Mobile stores located in shopping centers across Canada. The new Best Buy Mobile stores will sell mobile phones, plans, accessories and related items--a new format for Best Buy. The first stores will be constructed in the greater Toronto area and are slated to open before the 2008 holiday season. Best Buy Mobile will carry all Canadian networks. Best Buy Mobile expansion plans also include upgrading the mobile sections of select Best Buy stores across Canada for the Best Buy Mobile store-within-a-store concept. This new section within Best Buy's current retail stores will offer more selection, have dedicated team members, and a no-pressure, non-commissioned sales environment. Best Buy Mobile standalone stores will average approximately 1,800 sq. ft., while the store-within-a-store concept will be located near the current wireless section and feature approximately 800 sq. ft. of display space.
