Rite Aid Releases April Sales Results

Camp Hill, Pa.-based Rite Aid Corp. reported total sales of $2.003 billion, a 46.9 percent increase, for the four weeks ending April 26, 2008, compared to $1.363 billion for the same time period last year. Same-store sales rose 0.5 percent, with pharmacy same-store sales increasing 1.8 percent and front-end same-store sales decreasing 1.7 percent. For year-to-date, total sales increased 48.8 percent to $4.047 billion, versus $2.719 billion last year; while same-store sales increased 1.6 percent, including a 1.4 percent increase for pharmacy same-store sales and a 1.9 percent increase in front-end same-store sales. Rite Aid operates 5,026 stores in 31 states and the District of Columbia.
