New C-Store Prototypes to Open in August
July 10, 2009
Columbus, Ohio-based Certified Oil Corp., which operates 86 company-owned convenience stores, is on schedule to open two new prototype stores in August. The first of the new prototype stores is expected to open within the first two weeks of August in Chillicothe, Ohio, according to Wayne Wills, the company’s merchandising manager. The other new prototype will be in Groveport, Ohio. The new prototypes are 3,200 sq. ft. and 2,800 sq. ft., respectively, and feature expanded foodservice offerings, including an open air sandwich cooler, bigger sandwich warming bins and expanded menu. The coffee and soda fountain areas will also be better defined. In late 2008, the company, which supplies fuel to more than 50 other stations in addition to its company-operated stores, rebranded and remodeled 10 stores in its home Columbus market to a more updated, modern look. Another dozen existing stores are currently undergoing similar changes, Wills said, who added the retailer also just completed the rollout of its new loyalty program called Certified Savings in Columbus.
