McDonald's to Launch Car-Charging Stations
July 10, 2009
Oak Brook, Ill.-based McDonald's Corp. is positioning itself to be the first destination where customers can recharge themselves and their cars. Working with NovaCharge, McDonald’s restaurants in the southeastern United States will have ChargePoint Networked Charging Stations installed, allowing customers to drive in, hook up their car and grab some food, according to a report by Geek.com. The first ChargePoint-enabled McDonald’s is set to open July 14, in Cary, N.C. For now, it seems the charging points may be limited to new McDonald’s restaurant builds, which also incorporate sustainability and eco-friendly materials in construction and daily operations. However, expanding the ChargePoint system to other restaurants in the chain in the future is a possibility, the report stated.
