Wal-Mart Converts Garden Centers into "Game Time Headquarters"
August 29, 2008
Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart Stores Inc. plans to completely transform more than 1,700 of its Garden Centers into "Game Time Headquarters," customized for local college or professional football team fans. Beginning this week and running through Sept. 30, Walmart stores will feature everything from team merchandise and decor to snacks and beverages. Today, Wal-Mart is launching the Game Time tailgate planner, a widget created for football enthusiasts that allows fans to download their favorite team's schedule, and to create and send e-mail invitations to friends for game day events and tailgating parties. Additionally, Walmart.com/gametime offers free tools to help fans manage a guest list, plan a menu, download a shopping checklist and calculate costs for everything the tailgate requires. The site also offers several recipes and tips for better organization.
