Rite Aid Lays Off 44 Corporate Employees
July 18, 2008

Camp Hill, Pa.-based Rite Aid Corp. will eliminate 44 corporate jobs as it integrates the 1,850 Brooks and Eckerd stores it acquired last year, according to the Associated Press. Karen Rugen, a spokeswoman for Rite Aid, said the cuts are less than 3 percent of the staff at the company's headquarters and corporate offices. Rugen said Rite Aid added more corporate positions when it acquired the stores and distribution centers last year. Some employees have been offered other positions in the company, while others will receive severance packages.
