July 09, 2009
San Francisco-based The Gap Inc. has plans to bring its namesake brand to Thailand by spring 2010, according to The Wall Street Journal. The retailer announced on July 8 that it has signed the deal with Thailand-based marketer Armin Systems Ltd., which the company believes has a “deep understanding of the marketplace.” Gap operates 100 flagship stores and 34 Banana Republic franchise stores in 17 countries, including three Southeast Asian countries--Indonesia, the Philippines and Singapore. The company currently has 3,149 store locations, with plans to open 50 more stores and close 100 this year.
