Missoni Unveils First Hotel

Varese, Italy-based fashion house Missoni S.p.A. has opened the first of many hotels in a 15-year license with the Rezidor Hotel Group, according to WWD.com. The new Hotel Missoni, located in Edinburgh, Scotland, features bold interiors and the brand’s signature geometric prints. “I didn’t want big, bold signs, but something iconic and distinctive,” said Rosita Missoni, creative director of Missoni’s home collection. Six floors of the hotel’s 137 rooms and seven suites are furnished with pieces designed by Marcel Wanders, Eero Saarinen, Arne Jacobsen and Hans Wegner. According to Massimo Gasparini, CEO of Missoni, the hotel chain is “a natural evolution of our home business, which was initiated 30 years ago.” The Scotland hotel will be followed by openings in Kuwait; Cape Town, South Africa; and Oman.
