Trion Founder Bud Thalenfeld Passes

David R. "Bud" Thalenfeld, a retail fixture entrepreneur and POPAI Hall of Fame Inductee, passed away Tuesday, May 19, surrounded by his family in Florida. Thalenfeld was founder and CEO of Trion Industries Inc., headquartered in Wilkes-Barre, Pa. In 1965, along with three friends, he founded Trion in Brooklyn, N.Y., to manufacture his innovative fixture concepts. Over time his partners left the firm, and Thalenfeld moved Trion to Wilkes-Barre, Pa., in 1982. Trion has since grown to more than $40 million in sales, and is headed by his on John. Thalenfeld was inducted into the POPAI Hall of Fame and held more than 88 patents for display innovations. He is survived by his wife Lillian; son John; grandchildren Adam and Rebecca; and sisters Harriett Grey and Freda Popsky.
