HEB Expanding Operations to Dallas
November 24, 2009
H.E. Butt Grocery Co.’s Central Market stores may have been a test of the Dallas/Fort Worth market waters, as local news reports say the San Antonio-based independent chain is looking to further expand into the Central Texas market. According to reports, the grocer confirmed that it’s looking for potential Dallas/Fort Worth sites, but it was vague about what kind of move it will make there, or when such a move would occur. The grocer has already began construction on a 450,000-sq.-ft. distribution center in Temple, Texas, this past August to better service its central Texas stores, the company said. HEB currently operates four Central Market stores in the Texas cities of Dallas, Plano, Fort Worth and Southlake. Calls to HEB were not returned by press time. Source: Nielsen Business Media
