Columbia Sportswear Opens New Stores

Portland, Ore.-based outdoor apparel and footwear retailer Columbia Sportswear Co. has opened seven new Columbia-branded stores in the United States and Europe in the past year, and has plans to open three more Columbia-branded stores in the United States and Europe over the next several months. The store design work was led by design consulting firm 2Hemispheres’ creative director, Dan Hones, in partnership with Columbia’s retail brand marketing team. The three new stores to be added in the coming months include a second Columbia-branded retail store in Minneapolis (the first opened in Mall of America in November 2008), as well as branded stores in Chicago and Munich, Germany. 2Hemispheres has also designed new outlet stores for Columbia Sportswear located in Marysville, Wash.; Vacaville, Calif.; Las Vegas; Kingston, Ontario, Canada; and Portsmouth, England. In addition, 2Hemispheres contributed to redesigns of two existing Columbia outlet stores during 2009--one in Lake Oswego, Ore., and the other in the Sellwood neighborhood of east Portland.
