Wal-Mart Adopting Customer-Centric Merchandising System
June 25, 2009
Bentonville, Ark.-based Wal-Mart Stores Inc. plans to deploy a store and merchandise planning software system in the United Kingdom and then globally, following a user acceptance and extensive scalability test of the system. The retailer is working with Galleria Retail Technology Solutions on the initiative, which was developed to connect assortment and space planning business processes to plan assortments that reflect future demands on a store-by-store basis, rather than a purely historic view. Chicago-based Galleria provides customer-centric merchandising solutions aimed at integrating with a retailer’s existing systems and resources to deliver the right product to the right stores in the right capacity.
